After taking a spill in her home in Duluth, Minnesota, Oscar-winning actress Jessica Lange was hospitalized. Lange’s fall resulted in bruised ribs, a broken collar bone, and a tiny cut on her forehead. According to a spokeswoman, Lange should be completely fine, and released from the hospital soon.
Jessica Phyllis Lange was born on April 20, 1949 in Cloquet, Minnesota. She is the aughter of Dorothy Florence and Albert John Lange, who was a salesman and also a teacher.
Lange had a brief stint at the University of Minnesota, before moving to Paris to study mime with Étienne Decroux. In 1973 she returned to, New York City, and studied acting while she was working as a waitress and a fashion model.
In 1976 she was cast in the Dino De Laurentiis motion picture the remake of King Kong, which began and nearly ended her career. Even though the King Kong remake grossed a large profit for Paramount pictures, critics did not like the movie. It was three years before she landed her next roll, playing death in All That Jazz.
In 1982 Lange won best supporting actress for her role in “Tootsie,” in 1994 she won best leading actress for “Blue Sky.” She recently is co-starring with Drew Barrymore in the film “Grey Gardens,” which is scheduled to air in April on HBO.
