Jenny McCarthy has been such an advocate for Autism since her only son, Evan, was diagnosed with it. Jenny has made the rounds this week at various talk shows to raise awareness. She appeared on Larry King, where she had a very heated conversation in which she fought against the use of vaccinations on small children.
Yesterday Jenny appeared on Ellen, where she talked about how far her son has come. Ellen was brought to tears by her stories. Jenny told Ellen about a time when Evan told her that he was like Dory from Finding Nemo.
He said, ‘Mom, you know I used to be a lot like Dory.’ I literally pulled over and looked and turned around and I started crying, because of what he meant. He said, ‘Dory had a really hard time remembering her words and I couldn’t remember them…’ We sat on the side of the road for about 15 minutes while I cried. He said, ‘I’m not like Dory anymore, I can remember.”
Dory is a character very familiar to Ellen, and certainly close to her heart because she was Dory’s voice in the movie. Ellen held back tears telling Jenny,
“I’m gonna cry right now… That’s incredible.”
