Leslie Moonves is a man of many ventures; he’s a former actor, turned media executive, and also husband to television personality Julie Chen, who is 22 years his junior.
Currently the television prodigy is trying to resurrect the lifeless CBS network. Explaining why people should invest in his company, Moonves said:
“I think the reason you should buy our stock is that we have very successful businesses that continue to produce a lot of cash. We’ll pay our dividend. You are going to get money from buying our stock. The dividend is going to continue to go up too. And on top of all that, these are businesses that initially are going to be growing and will continue to grow because of new media.”
Media analyst Fred Moran once said of Moonves:
“Les Moonves is clearly one of the most successful leaders in the television business today.”
Leslie Moonves was born in N.Y. City, and was raised in Valley Stream, New York. He went to high school at Valley Stream Central, and then went on to attend and graduate from Bucknell University in 1971. He is the great-nephew of David Ben-Gurion, Israel’s first Prime Minister.
Moonves, who has three children - Adam, Michael, and Sara, with his ex-wife Nancy, currently lives in the hills located above Brentwood, California.
On Moonves’ 56th birthday he married television personality Julie Chen.
Over Moonves’ career he has held several titles including vice president of movies and mini-series for Fox, Vice President of development at Saul Ilson Productions, Development Executive at Catalina Productions, President of Lorimar Television, President of Warner Bros. Television, and Chief Executive Officer of CBS Television.
Moonves was a key figure in making the deal that merged UPN with The WB to form the CW Network.
