Danielle Staub, one of the women featured on Bravo’s new series, The Real Housewives of New Jersey, is alleged to have a naughty past, including rumors of a criminal record and substance abuse.
In a now out-of-print book called Cop Without A Badge, the author makes some pretty intense claims about the new Real Housewives star’s days back in the 80s in Miami. The book was written by Kevin Maher, a former criminal turned police informant. The claims range anywhere from kidnapping and extortion to stripping and cocaine use. Her mug shot (seen above) can reportedly be seen in the book as well.
There are multiple reports that she was actually arrested and charged in relation to a kidnapping in Miami back then. The book alleges that through connections, Staub, who went by a number of different aliases, was given the chance to plead guilty to extortion, resulting in the kidnapping charges being dropped.
Promos for the show do touch on the notion that she has a naughty past, but when asked in a recent interview about the rumors, Staub said:
“It’s not that I don’t want it known, I just think there’s a time and place for everything…And maybe people can watch and see how it unfolds.”
Nicely done, stringing us all along like that! I guess we’ll have to tune in to learn more about her naughty past, but I’m sure on The Real Housewives of New Jersey, Bravo will take its time giving out the information we’re really waiting for.
What do you think, should Bravo have individuals on Real Housewives who have such allegations made about them? If the claims are substantiated, is she a bad representation of young, independent women in America? Let us know in the comments section below.
