Kanye West may be heading to rehab, reports state. Following his Hennessy driven antics at the VMAs, many people aren’t surprised to hear Kanye West rehab rumors.
The pictures of a stumbling West passing around a bottle of Hennessy before the VMAs flew around the web after he jumped on stage to interrupt Taylor Swift’s speech. People began to wonder whether he had a bit too much.
There have been other ARI’s with Kanye—think back to the MTV Europe Music Awards in 2006. Back then Kanye stormed the stage when his video for “Touch The Sky” didn’t take home the prize. Following that outburst, he apologized, and admitted he had “a little sippy-sippy” prior to the show.
The rapper / producer explained to Jay Leno that he may be taking a break to “reevaluate his carreer” after the intense backlash he faced following the Swift incident. Could that have been code for “get help for my alcohol problem?”
Well, the Daily Star reports that he is considering checking into a treatment program as soon as his tour with Lady GaGa wraps up. A source was quoted as saying:
“His drinking is getting worse… If he doesn’t get help soon, things could really spiral out of control. Kanye’s afraid to go to rehab, but he knows he needs help and is taking steps in the right direction.”
MSNBC reports that friends close to Kanye claim it’s untrue, and there is no word from his representatives about the rumor. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
