One of the hottest topics these days has to be too thin models and actresses. Well, Cookie Johnson, wife of basketball legend Magic Johnson has started a line of clothing aimed for the average sized woman.
Cookie says that for years she has struggled to fit her “healthy” size 8 into jeans that actually fit correctly. In fact Cookie is not alone in her quest for better fitting clothing in larger sizes.
Last week Alexandra Schulman, editor of British Vogue sent letters out to all the high end fashion designers such as Karl Lagerfeld, John Galliano, Prada and Versace suggesting they provide larger sizes for fashion shoots. Alexandra wants to begin using larger models.
Really, it’s about time we watched a few healthy, normal sized girls walk the runway and not be labeled a “plus size” model.
Cookie Johnson is calling her new line CJ and her business partner is Michael Glasser, founder of Seven For All Mankind, Citizens of Humanity, and Rich & Skinny jeans.
“You get to the point where you think it’s you — you think, I shouldn’t have eaten that extra cracker,” says Ms. Johnson. In actuality it’s the cut of the jeans. They begin the process using a thin model to cut the pattern then add inches here an there to get larger sizes hence ill fitting jeans.
The premium jean line CJ has jeans that range from $140 to $200. The usual range for premium jeans and a small price to pay for comfort, fit and style.
