DJ AM

In Gone Too Far DJ AM, a.k.a Adam Goldstein, sets out to help addicts, while showing viewers the kind of heartbreaking effects of drug addiction. Each week DJ AM meets with a different addict, as well as their family and friends, to see just how willing they are to change. Along the way he uncovers secrets, hidden truths and desires, all while following the rehabilitation of each addict. The show is a reflection of not only DJ AM’s own struggle but of the person he had become.

DJ AM died of an accidental overdoes on August 28th, 2009. With Gone Too Far set to air just a few short weeks after his death, MTV made the tough decision to honor the work and commitment DJ AM had put into the show. Some question whether or not it is too soon after his death to air the show, especially given the circumstances surrounding his death, it is quite ironic. However, the show is truly inspiring, the work DJ AM put into helping other addicts is amazing. While some say it is too soon, I say it is just the right time. His mission was to help other addicts and if this show, and his death can help just one person, well then his mission lives on. Gone Too Gar airs Monday’s at 10 PM EST on MTV.
