Meet Isis, the first transgender girl to make it on America’s Next Top Model. Read more and see her photos and video here.
America’s Next Top Model will begin its 11th season next month, and this time Tyra is doing something that she has never done before; admitting a transgender girl, Isis, into the competition. Isis is a 22 year old from Maryland who describes herself as “a woman born physically male.” You can see her promo picture here. Isis is a former receptionist and competing on the reality show is a huge milestone for her, as well as other transgenders. When asked by US Weekly if she feels as though she is a role model she said;
“I like to help people, but I’m here to follow my dreams.”
Following her dreams opens the doors for many other transgenders as well. ANTM and Isis have already caught the attention of GLADD, who believes this is a wonderful opportunity to represent the transgender community on television. GLAAD president Neil Giuliano says,
“We applaud Tyra Banks and The CW for making this historic visibility of transgender people possible.”
The 11th season of America’s Next Top Model began last night on The CW, and Isis made it through to the final 14.

That is a video of her talking about the issues homeless people face. She was not on last season, I have watched all of the cycles. All of the sources say she will be a contestant this coming season:)
