Was comedian Katt Williams arrested? Indeed he was, and his mugshot makes him look a bit like Al Sharpton’s little brother. Read the story here.
The details are still elusive, but TMZ has confirmed that he was busted for burglary and criminal trespassing. He is reportedly in a Coweta County Georgia jail right now. The 38-year-old is currently awaiting his arraignment today, where a bond amount is expected to be set.
So how was Katt Williams arrested? The arrest stems from an incident that reportedly happened in Newnan, Georgia. Major James Yarbrough with the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office says a homeowner made a call to police Sunday night claiming that Williams “gained entry by breaking into the home, and items were taken from the residence.”
More information is expected to be available later today following his arraignment.
He is no stranger to legal troubles. Just last November, he did a brief jail stint in New York after he was pulled over for driving without a license. Police also discovered three guns in his possession, but the weapons charges were later thrown out. Also, back in 2006 he was arrested for carrying a concealed firearm at Los Angeles International Airport.
It should be interesting to see how this case shakes out, or if the charges will even stick. I find it hard to believe that a successful comedian and actor would bother breaking into someone’s house. We know he’s got the lawyer juice to fight the case, so we’ll just have to wait and see. I wonder if his priors will play a role.
