Whitney’s Dancing With The Stars performance will come on the heels of her American Music Awards performance set to air tomorrow night. Apparently ABC has more faith in Ms. Houston than most of us do. The 80’s music icon is desperate to reclaim her mark in the music world. Her new album I Look To You was released on August 28th to pretty decent reviews. I have heard bits and pieces of the album and the amazing voice we all knew before has changed some but it is still a pretty good album. As for a live performance, well the jury is still out on that. Who knows what can happen when you put whacked out Whitney in front of a live audience.

Oh how far the star has fallen. In the mid 80’s and early 90’s Whitney Houston was the woman. She had the kind of success that young singers dreamed of having. A beautiful voice and kicks ass looks to boot made Ms. Houston a cultural phenomenon. With hit songs such as I will Always Love You, I want To Dance With Somebody, and You Give Good Love, Whitney was on top of the world. I owned all of her albums and could sing the words to all her songs back in the day when things were good for Whitney.

Everything changed for Whitney when she hooked up with R&B sensation Bobby Brown. The two soon went down a serious path of destruction which ultimately let to a terrible drug addiction. Unfortunately Whitney stayed in the spotlight only because of her abusive marriage and drug use. Who can forget the now infamous interview with Diane Sawyer where she uttered the words she would forever be known for “Crack Is Whack“. Oh Whitney how the mighty had fallen.

All that drama is hopefully behind Whitney. She got off the drugs, ditched Bobby Brown and released what I have no doubt will become another platinum gold album for her. Yes her star power and celebrity status are so on the rise, and Tuesday’s Dancing With The Stars performance will certainly prove that. In the meantime check out the below pictures and video of Whitney to see if you think she is comeback worthy. Oh and be sure to check out our Dancing With The Stars finale live feed and blog starting Tuesday at 8PM EST.
