Nicole Johnson was crowned Miss California 2010. The beautiful brunette hails from Ventura County. Hey, wait a minute…. I thought all Miss California contestants had to be blonde. Or scandalous. Well it seems that Nicole is neither.
As the new Miss California she follows the now infamous Carrie Prejean, however she will not be following in Carrie’s foot steps, nor does she carry the same beliefs. Nicole said after the ceremony that she loved gay people and has never starred in a sex tape. She’s off to a good start. We all remember the “question and answer” segment of last year…
Perez Hilton asked Carrie Prejean for her views on gay marriage. We all know her answer. They took it a bit easier on Nicole her question was from CSI’s Hill Harper and he inquired about California’s challenges as a state. Replied Johnson: “Focusing on what we truly believe in. Sometimes we are very divided, and I feel if we can unite and be one state and focus our beliefs in one thing, I think we can succeed and be a very dominant state.”
Okay maybe not the most profound answer but it should keep Nicole out of hot water. In fact as far as we know Ms. Johnson has led a rather quiet life other than dating Michael Phelps back in 2008. Of course if that occurred during Michael’s pot smoking days, well then we may have another scandal. Of course only if Nicole partook in the festivities.
Nicole Johnson beat out the apparent crowd favorite, Nana Meriwether, who was representing Beverly Hills. Finally Meriwether was chosen as the runner-up and she would fill in for Nicole Johnson if she were unable to fulfill her Miss California duties.
When Nicole was asked why she thinks she won she stated: “I think it was my presentation, I was very confident on the stage, and I stood out in a red gown. I think maybe that was it.”
Hey, sometimes that’s all it takes.
