The crap storm that has followed Adam Lambert’s performance on The American Music Awards continued today on The Early Show. Adam Lambert sat down with The Early Show’s Maggie Rodriguez to set the record straight. And let me tell you he is not uttering the words “I’m Sorry” and I like it. Unless you are living in a bubble you know that Adam Lambert’s Sunday performance on the AMA’s has caused quite the uproar. His performance was little more proactive and envelope pushing then a lot of people liked. Along with Adam kissing a man, his performance included a dancer sticking his head in Adam’s crotch, as well as very erotic, sexual dancing. The whole performance was a shock to say the least. Needless to say ABC immediately got a plethora of complaints from outraged viewers insisting ABC and Lambert went too far. ABC later cancelled Lambert’s scheduled appearance on their morning show Good Morning America.
CBS’s Early Show quickly scheduled Adam to air on their show once the American Idol star had been dropped by Good Morning America. During the interview Lambert explained that he had not intended for the performance to be quite so provocative, he claims it was impromptu after the moment over took him. Although he understands that ABC and others could be taken back by the performance he is not apologizing for his actions. You can watch Adam’s entire interview here.
Adam himself said it best today, he is a performer and you know what he is not the first performer to push the envelope. Remember a little incident at the MTV Video Music Awards between Madonna and Britney Spears. Heck Madonna does nothing but push the envelope so why is there so much backlash from Lambert’s performance? Is it because he is male performer, would it be more acceptable if the performance had been done by a female? I think there is definitely something to that but that is just my opinion.
