All My Children veteran actress Susan Lucci was the grand marshal yesterday for the Hollywood Christmas Parade in Los Angeles. This is a big honor for the Soap Opera legend as previous grand marshals include Hollywood icons such as Bob Hope and Sammy Davis Jr. Read on to learn more about Ms. Lucci, there are some pictures and a video too.
Susan Lucci has played the scheming, vixen Erica Kane on All My Children for almost 40 years. You read it right, 40 years! Lucci has played the character from troubled teen to bona fide sexy, drop dead gorgeous diva. She is a legend in the Soap Opera world to say the least.
Along with playing Erica Kane, Susan Lucci may be best known for being nominated for an Outstanding Lead Actress Daytime Emmy 18 times before finally winning in 1999 with her 19th nomination. It was a much anticipated and deserved award for Lucci.
In 2005 after 35 years on All My Children, Susan Lucci received a star on the famed Hollywood Walk of Fame. You can see a photo of her with her family at the ceremony below.
Erica Kane may be an evil schemer that people love to hate, but Susan Lucci is a far cry from her alter ego. She has been happily married to husband Helmut Huber since 1969. She is a devoted mother to the couples’ two children son Andreas and daughter Lisa, who followed in mom’s footsteps playing Gwen on the short lived kind of out there Soap Opera Passions.
Along with her role on All My Children, Susan Lucci has launched her own jewelry, shoes, lingerie, accessories, and a beauty/skin care line. All of that plus she is a spokesperson for Malibu Pilates, which she swears is what keeps her in shape. Wow Susan Lucci sure is one busy woman.
Susan also has a charitable side which many of her fans saw at the Daytime Emmy Awards this year. Lucci, as well as other daytime stars, took a journey to Africa for Feed The Children. The footage of their trip was shown in a heartfelt video during the awards. Lucci spoke openly about how the trip has changed her life.
Although her heart belongs to All My Children Susan Lucci has ventured out and had success on Broadway, and made for television films.
Erica Cane may have made her mark in Pine Valley, but Susan Lucci has definitely made her mark on the world. An Actress, entrepreneur, mother, wife, celebrity, is there anything she can’t do? I don’t think so.
