What a year Levi Johnston and the Palins had. Lots of interviews, a baby, a book and some mild nudity on Levi Johnston’s part. Although the “part” everyone wanted to see was kept hidden. Not much else slipped under the rug though. The Palin family spent most of the year under fire and Levi came out blazing in a Playgirl spread.
Now that things have quieted down we can take a quick look back at all the drama and scandal. It’s hard to keep it private and under wraps when you are in the public eye (just ask Tiger Woods) and all the Palin-Johnston dirty laundry was strewn from the hamper. The dirtiest pair of panties? Sarah Palin.
Sarah Palin wrote a book then spent several months promoting it. She was on every talk show imaginable and at times she faced some pretty intense questions. In her typical manner she danced around many of the issues and never gave a straight answer to some of the toughest questions. Is her book a “tell all” or a glossing over of her persona that Sarah would like us to believe? You’ll have to read the book. I’ll pass. In July, Sarah abruptly stepped down as Governor of Alaska. I suppose when the going gets tough you can just quit.
Bristol Palin spent the past year fighting with Levi over their baby boy Tripp. Levi says he wants to be a part of the child’s life and Bristol states that he is not interested. Somewhere in the middle is Sarah Palin who called the birth of her first grandchild an “amazing, joyful blessing,” but noted that, “When Bristol and Levi first told us the shocking news that she was pregnant, to be honest, we all at first looked at the situation with some fear and a bit of despair.” Hopefully Bristol and Levi can come to some sort of co-parenting situation so the poor kid doesn’t suffer. Even though they were young and irresponsible, that baby needs both parents in his life.
Levi Johnston had quite the year. His mother, Sherry Johnston got busted for selling drugs to undercover law enforcement. Her excuse? She got hooked on OxyContin as the result of an actual medical issue. That’s understandable but why was she selling them? Shouldn’t she be buying them? So, while Sherry is facing jail time Levi gave us face time and that’s about it. His much hyped Playgirl spread turned out to be just that: hype. We were promised a peek at his johnson but Levi chickened out and covered it up with a towel. Next he went on a round of talk shows and now despite his claims of an “acting career” has faded into obscurity where he belongs.
My guess is that by 2010 the whole Palin and Johnston drama will take a backseat to the next outed cheating sports star. That’s what people want to really hear about, right?
