ABC has officially decided to give it a go with Life On Mars. The cop drama originally hails from Britain airwaves, and goes by the same name. Picked up here in the U.S., the series pilot was written by David E. Kelly upon the networks order this past May.

Unfortunately after the pilot was written Kelly decided to skip out on the series, Rob Thomas style, ultimately leaving Life On Mars without a showrunner. Since then the series has revamped not only its producers and cast, but the location as well.

ABC has now signed on the writers from the short lived October Road series, Josh Appelbaum, Andre Nemec, Scott Rosenberg, and moved from Los Angeles to the Big Apple.

Life On Mars follows Detective Sam Tyler, played by Jason O’Mara, who wakes up in a different decade, the 70’s, after a car accident. After landing in the middle of New York City durning Vietnam, Watergate and other historical events Sam is faced with the challenge of getting back to present day all while surviving the times.

Also signed on to Life On Mars is Michael Imperioli, known for his role as Christopher on the Sopranos. The Huxtables alumni, Lisa Bonet, as well as Jonathan Murphy, Gretchen Mol, and Harvey Keitel.

Life On Mars kicks off its series premiere on October 9th at 10pm.
