Very well known foreign correspondent Christiane Amanpour and ABC will now be working together. She is leaving CNN to take over for George Stephanopoulos on the station’s show ‘This Week.’ Continue for details, including more pictures and a video!
She was brought up in both Iran and Britain, and will bring a new dynamic to the show, as well as an accent. Some wonder about the move, though, since the general topic is domestic affairs. But I tell you, to have someone as powerful and fierce as her can only be a great thing!
Through her 18 years working with CNN, she has taken the international world by storm! And watching some of her reports and confrontations are amazing, especially the one with Marc Thiessen! That woman will always speak her mind, that’s for sure! She also holds honors in various countries and a stellar reputation, and with this Amanpour and ABC both stand to profit greatly with the partnership.
David Westin, the ABC News president hopes to offer Sunday crowds something different and stated:
“We will continue to provide the best in interviews and analysis about domestic politics and policies. But now we will add to that an international perspective. All of us know how much the international and the domestic have come to affect one another — whether it’s global conflict, terrorism, humanitarian crises, or the economy.”
As far as Christiane is concerned, she has learned so much by being involved closely with events and offers and interesting perspective to take on this new role.
“I didn’t know about war until I started covering it. . . . I didn’t know about famine until I was in the middle of one. This is an opportunity to explain domestic politics and how it impacts the world. I’ve always tried to make foreign news less foreign.”
I am sure with all of her experience in the world she will have no trouble taking over this show by storm! And now that the deal is closed between Amanpour and ABC, all that’s left to do is watch!
Be sure to tell me what you think about this decision, and check out more photos and a video of one of her confrontations!
