On SNL Anne Hathaway spoofed Kate Middleton to give viewers a look at what the royals are really like in a hysterical comedy skit. Did you really think that the beloved Saturday Night Live was going to let the engagement of William and Kate just slip by with out any sort of mocking at all, nope me neither.
Hot on the heels of the engagement of the century comes the ultimate royal spoof thanks to Hathaway’s portrayal of the future queen Kate. In the skit Queen Elizabeth II played by Fred Armisen and Prince Philip played by Bill Hader turn on Middleton as soon as Prince William’s back is turned. I could give you a play by play of the sketch but I so would not do it justice. You have to watch the below video, seriously I have laughed my you know what off watching it all five times.
The Anne Hathaway SNL Kate Middleton sketch was fantastic. Hathaway who is always funny certainly turned it up for this one. She held her own very well against the seasoned comics of Armisen and Hader. My personal favorite line of the whole sketch is “This aint The Princess Diaries” which was a nice tie in to the role that really made Anne a star in my book.
Yes all in all the first spoof involving the royal couple, their engagement and impending wedding was awesome. I have no doubt that many more comedy skits like this are to come but hats off to Hathaway for hitting this one out of the park.
