Everyone’s talking about The Teen Choice Awards, and the pole dance that Miley Cyrus did. Was it too much? Read the story, and see photos and video here.

Miley Cyrus

At the Teen Choice Awards last night, 16-year-old Miley Cyrus got a little freaky on what looked like a stripper pole attached to the top of an ice-cream cart. Even though the dance lasted for just a few seconds, it swept the web today as people reacted to the news.

The awards show was actually taped Sunday, and a slew of leaked videos of Miley’s performance began circulating the net early Monday—hours before it was set to air.

The dance sequence in question occurred while she was performing her hit Party In The USA. About one minute into her performance a dancer begins to push a mock ice-cream cart across the stage.

She steps onto the cart from an elevated part of the stage, and grasps a pole that is affixed onto the center. As she is being pushed across the stage she begins her “pole dance,” which Fox News called “raunchy and racy.”

To be fair, it does appear that the pole was put there for her to hang on to while being moved, but I’m certain the choreographers were aware of how her dance might be interpreted.

At 16, Miley Cyrus has already had her share of scandals: first risqué photos of her surfaced online, then she endured a fake pornographic picture melee, and finally today she is being criticized for what people are calling a “pole dance” at the Teen Choice Awards.

In the end, Cyrus walked away with six “surfboards” for a variety of categories, including Best Comedy TV Actress and Best Show, Best Music/Dance Movie, Best Hissy Fit for her Hannah Montana movie, Best Music Single for The Climb, and Best Summer Song for Before The Storm.

After watching the routine, what do you think? Is it too much for a 16-year-old, or is it just a sign of the times?

Wow, her split second performance with the pole was defiently sending out a sexual message, but even more so, is the clothes or lack of that she and her FEMALE dancers are wearing. And you wonder why there are so many pedafiles running around. My little girls are enthralled with her. Shes a huge influence on little children everywhere, you think she would want to leave a positive mark on this world. Why do all the female singing artists always have to go there.Janet Jackson, was hugley popular and talented, then she pulled the Super Bowl stunt. All her years of performing and thats all she’ll be remembered for. ie: Bill Clinton? I wont be buying any more Hanna Montana products, thats for sure, lets keep our fingers crossed that one smart cookie will figure it out and leave behind a good positive legacy for the young, influentional litte minds to soak up.Hey Taylor Swift were watching, please don’t be like all the others and reach so low. Be remebered for your voice, talent and morals not your ass!

I have no problem with the brief shot on the pole, however; it was poorly thought out routine considering all the teenage and not so teeenage girls who adore her. My daughter is nine and she loves her. Im so glad that my dore has a role model in her home(her mom) to look up to. My nine year old would know that those shorts are inappropriate and comment on it IF she sees this show. How could her management not constantly worry about her image. Parents need to teach kids whats appropriate at home and not let TV raise their children. WHO CONTROLLS THE REMOTE IN YOUR HOUSE AND WHO BUYS THE KIDS CLOTHES? WE(THE PARENTS) SHOULD!!!!!!!!

Miley seems to have fogotten that many of her adoring fans are aged 5-10 – not 20-25. Hannah Montana is a wholesome show – but what is happening to Miley Cyrus? As a surprise, I bought my 8 year old daughter tickets to Miley’s upcoming tour. If this is what we are going to see – I don’t want to go. This is not the message I want to send my daughter.

miley is 16 not 12 and our daughters whom are raised by use should be taught that miley is a teenage performer doing her job.britney dressed risque at 17 it was ok christina dressed risque under 18 numerous others have done it and that was ok miley has more covered than any of the others so what is the big deal do u take ur kids to the beach bet u see a whole lot more there .miley cant be hannah forever and if she doesnt start acting and dressing older now when she turns 18 her career will die i thought it was great its an ice cream cart with an umbrella pole. and if it was a stripper routine she would have to wear a lot less .so get over it u pick ur kids clothes not miley

I see no problem with this, I find the mention of Fox news saying it was “raunchy and racy” and wondering how many times they played it on tv to prove it was so…and how they edited it to get the worst out of it. But anyhoo…she is doing a simple dance routine that has been done by many other performers, if you parents are woried, try raising your kids youself, not let tv do it for you. She only has as much influence on your kids as you let her.

I bet Steven Tyler wishes he’d had a pole. Geeze people it’s a safety issue and shows that someone was actually thinking. Folks have just got dirty minds when a metal pole is somehow “racy”

I was very disappointed in what Miley was wearing and how she was dancing last night. She wants to be this wholesome girl, but sends out the wrong message completely. There is already enough of that on tv. What kind of message does it send to thank your God above as he looks down on a half dressed little girl.

Much to do about nothing! She hardly even danced on the pole.

    Sharon Says:

That two seconds of dancing is hardly what I’d equate with a stripper on a pole! It looked more to me like she was using it to keep her balance, not trying to make it anything sexual. I’m not a Miley Cyrus fan, I don’t have daughters, and my sons only know who Hannah Montana is. But really, enough is enough. It’s time to leave Miley alone!
