A few weeks ago we brought you the news that Will Ferrell was threatening to shave off Conan O’Brien’s beard, a feature that has become somewhat of a trademark for the comic over the pas year. In what quickly became referred to as Beardpocalypse, everyone was wondering whether or not he would make good on his threats.
Ferrell has been bombarded Conan with video threats since he made the initial pledge to shave off his beard when he visited the show on May 2 a couple of weeks. Everyone tuned in anxiously last night as Will Ferrell came out on Conan’s TBS late night show and did exactly what he said he would do: destroy the beard!
Conan tried in vain to buy as much time as he could. After stating that his children, especially his 7-year-old daughter, were concerned about him loosing his beard he finally had to face the Ferrell.
Will Ferrell was actually there to promote his new film, Everything Must Go, which unfortunately took a way back seat to Beardpocalypse (which is too bad, because it seems like a good movie). Ferrell fidgeted and waved a razor in Conan’s face while reluctantly talked about his movie. And then finally… it was time.
A barber chair was wheeled out, and an elated Will Ferrell went to town on poor Conan’s beard. What a hack job! Thankfully, there must have been some actual barbers on hand, because after the commercial break a freshly shaved Conan came out to finish his show.
