Chad Michael Murray returns to the screen with the new made-for-TV-movie, “Christmas Cupid” set to premiere Dec. 12 at 8/7c as part of the 25 Days of Christmas on ABC Family.

After leaving “One Tree Hill”, Murray had fallen off the grid for a while. It seems he is falling back into his usual role as hunky heartthrob in this new holiday flick. Maybe this is what it will take for Murray to get his career back on track.

Joining him will be Ashley Benson, best known for her role on the TV series “Pretty Little Liars”, and recording artist and actress, Christina Milian. Milian appears to be trying to redeem her career as well after news of her separation from The-Dream hit the tabloids earlier this year. Photos of The-Dream vacationing in the Caribbean with his secretary hit the web in July and speculation about their marriage filled the tabloids. “Christmas Cupid” will be her first starring role since the incident.

The plot follows Sloane (Christina Milian), a successful Hollywood PR agent, as she is shown how her workaholic ways are separating her from her friends and family during the holiday season. A time when she should be appreciating them the most. After her star client, Caitlin (Ashley Benson), tragically dies, she begins to be haunted by the ghost of Caitlin who takes Sloane through visions of her past boyfriends and shows her the error of her ways. One of these boyfriends is none other than her first true love, Patrick (Chad Michael Murray). Seeing the mistakes in her past, Sloane works to make a change for the better and finds no better time than the Christmas season.

The synopsis reads as yet another twist on the classic tale “A Christmas Carol” with a lighter and more romantic feel. At the very least, it should be interesting to see the chemistry between a cast made up of Murray and Milian who seem to be trying to recover their careers, and newbie Ashley Benson.
