That’s right, Michael Bay’s company Platinum Dunes is remaking A Nightmare On Elm Street. And the most important thing to any real horror fan has to be the selection of the actor who will replace Robert Englund as the hilarious yet frightening killer, Freddy Krueger. Well, Jackie Earle Haley seems the perfect fit for the new movie.
The original Freddy Krueger was not only horrifying, but threw in plenty of witty jokes while leaving four-finger claw marks down his victim’s backs. There’s going to be a lot of pressure on Jackie Earle Haley, but most fans of Watchmen point to his brilliant portrayal of the unpredictable character Rorschach.
Well, Jackie Earle Haley, as Freddy himself would say: “Welcome to prime time bi***!!”
Jackie Earle Haley was born in Northridge, California on July 14, 1961, which makes him 48 years old. His father Haven Earle “Bud” Haley worked in radio, and even dabbled in acting.
Jackie Earle Haley has two children, one boy and one girl. The girl, Olivia, is 11 years old. The boy, Christopher, is 23. Haley is now with his third wife, Amelia Cruz, whom he married in 2004. They live in San Antonio Texas.
Before playing Rorschach in Watchmen, Haley was probably most well known as Kelly Leak in The Bad News Bears. He has now been selected to play Freddy Krueger in Michael Bay’s remake of A Nightmare On Elm Street, expected to hit theatres in mid-2010.
