Meredith Baxter has officially come out. This morning on the Today Show she admitted to Matt Lauer that she is gay, and she is in a relationship. In her own words Baxter says “I am a lesbian mom” and discusses her. Below you will find the video of her Today show interview.
Baxter confessed that she has been a lesbian for seven years. So why come out now some night wonder. Well with her recent trip on a lesbian cruise, the rumors of her sexuality were running rampant. She can thank Perez Hilton for that. Her interview today was her way of setting the record straight, no pun intended, on her terms putting to rest all the tabloid buzz.
The extremely private actress has been in a committed relationship for four years with girlfriend Nancy Locke. The couple met through a mutual friend. Although Baxter just came out to the public, she admits she has been living a very open life in Los Angeles with Nancy, who is openly gay. Locke was obviously Baxter’s companion on the lesbian cruise that sparked rumors of her sexuality, especially after pictures of the couple surfaced on the internet.
She may not have been out to Hollywood, but Baxter says her five children were the first to know about her lifestyle change. Meredith has been married and divorced three times. To learn more about her coming out click here.
Now that her secret is out Meredith can focus on her skin care line, as well as her public speaking. There is no doubt that Meredith will soon become an advocate for the gay and lesbian community.
