Piers Morgan will replace Larry King, CNN confirmed today. The long rumored deal has finally become a reality. We’ve got the latest information for you, and some related photos and video below.

The man who is most well known in America for his biting criticism of contestants on America’s Got Talent will take the place of the legendary interviewer starting in January.

Fans of the talent-oriented show may wonder what experience he has in one to one interviews. It turns out, he has made a name for himself in the UK for grilling public figures. The network’s president added that he is known for “holding them accountable for their words and deeds.”

The show will take on its own name, and will air at 9PM EST weeknights on CNN.

As for taking the honor of replacing Larry King, Piers Morgan said:

“I have watched ‘Larry King Live’ for much of the last 25 years, and dreamed of one day filling the legendary suspenders of the man I consider to be the greatest TV interviewer of them all…”

When I first heard rumblings that he may be the next man to take the spot, I wondered what serious journalism experience he had. It turns out that he actually got his start as a newspaper reporter for The Wimbleton News. His work apparently earned him some praise over in the UK, and even landed him a spot as editor at News Of The World at just 28-years-old. From there it was on to the Daily Mirror and into the world of television.

King is certainly a hard act to follow—do you think he has what it takes? I guess we’ll have to wait until next year to find out.

Until then, check out some photos and video related to Piers Morgan, who will replace Larry King below.

    James Andrews Says:

Isn’t that idiot Rick Sanchez and Zakaria enough trash for CNN. Zakaria attacks Americans opposed to the ground zero mosque and MSNBC has all those viewers already. Sanchez is a privileged drunk driver who escaped penalty for running down a man and leaving the scene because of cop buddies (the victim died some years later from the injuries having been disabled from the attack).

Now they bring in Morgan. A man with the scruples of Dan Rather. Morgan had to resign (fired) for fabricating a story in a similar manner to Rather’s fake story on Bush.

    CNN has terminal suicide syndrome.
