Whether you’re a “Veronica Mars” or a “90210” addict from back in the day news that the show was going to be dusted off and brought back to life was exciting! Until the CW Network lost their showrunner, Rob Thomas. I have to say I’m not surprised when it came to Rob Thomas and his diva like ways. Thomas, a former english teacher, was brought on by the CW Network to re-invent the popular zip code as show runner. And run he did, making this show number three that the novelist has departed in the last year. News broke last week that the creative mastermind behind VM decided to venture off into the land of another network, ABC, after two of his pilots were picked up. Can you blame him after CW dropped his much loved mystery nior right down the garbage shoot after a four season run! The revival of “90210” has now been put in the hands of Gabe Sachs and Jeff Judah, both formally of “Life As We Know It”. The pair will rewrite Thomas’ script pushing production into the summer months with Thomas reportedly on hand as a consultant. One way or another the show must go on with the CW Network flying in the red this is really their only hope other than “Gossip Girls”!
As for Thomas’ two upcoming dramas it looks like they’ll both be hitting the small screen soon. “Cupid”, another revamp project created by Thomas in 1998 previously starring Jeremy Piven, will be brought back to life. Lauren Graham, aka Lorelai Gilmore from the Gilmore Girls, was approached about a role on the show but declined. Graham has other future endeavours in mind.
“Good Behavior”, which closely resembles “The Riches” on FX, has filled two roles so far. The crime family drama follows a Mother trying to straighten out her dysfunctional family. Mae Whitman formerly of “Arrested Development” and Patrick Adams who has been seen on “Friday Night Lights” has signed on to play two juvenile deliquent siblings. Whatever Thomas comes up I know the witty dialogue will suck me back in again!
