It’s true. That’s what he said. The best boss in the world is leaving “The Office.” Steve Carell, who plays Michael Scott on the popular NBC sitcom, has announced that he will be leaving the show at the end of its 7th season next spring. For more info on why Steve is departing, what’s up next for the show, and some hilarious Michael Scott moments, keep on reading!

It’s hard to imagine “The Office” without fumbling, socially-awkward, and endearing Michael Scott leading the shenanigans, but that is exactly what fans of everyone’s favorite paper company are going to have to do. Steve Carell has officially announced that he will be leaving the show next year as the sitcom wraps up its 7th season. There’s no bad blood, however, between Dunder-Mifflin and its regional manager; Carell’s contract is up and he has said he has chosen to not renew.

Whether or not this is a move on Carell’s part to negotiate a higher salary as the show hits a bit of a slump has yet to be determined (hello, Charlie Sheen). It seems unlikely that this is any kind of publicity stunt, however, as Carell says he just feels like its time for him to go, and in that manner that Steve has about him, it feels genuine.

While Carell holds his former co-workers in high esteem and thinks the show could carry on just fine without him, watching “The Office” just won’t be the same without Michael Scott. This does, however, open the table to bring on some new talent to liven up a once powerful show that has hit the 7-season-slump.

What do you guys think? Will you still watch the show sans Steve Carell? Is this the beginning of the end for “The Office?” Who would you like to see take Scott’s place as Regional Manager of the Dunder-Mifflin Paper Company in luxurious Scranton, PA? Let us know, and check out some of the best “That’s What She Said” moments from past seasons below!
