Do you remember yourself at 15? Do you remember how naïve, yet careless and free you were? How everything just seemed a bit more magical as you went around completely immersed in you own little adolescent world? Well, Taylor Swift certainly does, and she takes us on a journey back to the days of our youth in her song “Fifteen,” for which the music video recently premiered.

Swift shares her wise words with generation Y in the songs lyrics:

When all you wanted was to be wanted
wish you could go back and tell yourself what you know now
Back then I swore I was gonna marry him someday
but I realized some bigger dreams of mine

With the intention of finding out what men think about the song, I asked two of my guy friends who are both in their mid-20’s to take a listen. After five minutes the song came to its conclusion, and I asked them what they thought about it. The replies were vague, but their body language said it all. My friend Harry immediately turned to me, and with a wide grin cemented on his face he whimsically said:

“It wasn’t terrible”

My other friend, Lewis, in-between chuckles, managed to squeak out the words:

“It wasn’t ugly”

Well perhaps I ventured a little bit too far outside the country stars demographic of listeners for opinions, but at least the boys didn’t hate the song.

When Taylor was 15, do you think that she dreamt about one day being interrupted during one of the most important moments of her life by an egotistical maniac who has a goofy haircut? On second thought, she probably didn’t.
